Asenso-Boakye Implores Ghanaians to Patronise Only Registered Architects

The Minister for Works and Housing, Hon. Francis Asenso-Boakye (MP), yesterday 7th December, 2021 charged property developers, constructors and the general public to shy away from engaging quacks and unlicensed Architects and seek the services of only registered Architects and Firms in their building development processes. According to the Minister, the nation’s sustainable development can only be achieved through the utilisation of services of professionally licensed Architects.

He said this during his address at an induction ceremony to admit Thirty-Three (33) newly qualified Architects, adding that Architecture profession is a noble one and must be held in high esteem by practicing with integrity, credibility, professionalism and best international standards.

He reminded the graduating Architects that society will be counting on them and that the young professionals must utilize their knowledge and expertise acquired to bring forth innovative concepts and Architectural designs that address our national and global urbanisation challenges.

“I am entreating the general public to engage only registered Architects and Firms for their building projects to ensure that our cities are developed and built in a sustainable manner.

“This, I believe, will make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable as enshrined in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 11,” says the minister.

The induction ceremony was organised by the Architects Registration Council (ARC), a body established by Architects Act 1969, NLCD 357, to regulate the architectural profession in the country.
