Real estate industry actors have been charged with creating a close relationship with the Ghanaian academic community to ensure scientific research market information is readily available for their investment decisions.
In an interview with Real Estate Times Africa, the Managing Broker and CEO of Chicago-based Centered International Realty Corporation, Mr. Maurice L. Hampton, explained that evidenced-based research is very critical to real investors, especially developers and investors, as well as consumers in the market.
He noted that the relationship between academia and other real estate players is huge, adding that "they help us to understand how to build better, how to invest more efficiently, and how to build structurally sound so that our projects last for the long term.
Maurice acknowledged that the Ghana Real Estate Professionals Association (GREPA) has been bringing and engaging academia and educationists to Ghana, but stressed that the whole industry has to embrace the academic community. "They consistently bring high levels of education to the practitioners, and the practitioners in turn educate their clients and their consumers on a step-by-step basis, and so the interdependence that academia is going to have on realtors is really huge because that's where all of the knowledge lives," he added.
