JL Properties Rejuvenated Wastelands to Gated Estates in Accra

The Executive Chairman of JL Properties Ltd, Dr. James Orleans-Lindsay, has revealed how his dream of wasteland reclamation made JL Properties Ltd one of the most highly recognised real estate companies in the country. He added that converting wastelands into micro cities within the city exposed a real estate niche that was untouched.

JL Properties Ltd, which is a fully owned Ghanaian real estate company with no foreign partnerships, has over the past decade constructed over 1000 residential homes within the prime areas of the greater Accra Region.

In an interaction with Real Estate Times Africa, at the media launch of the 10th anniversary of JL Properties, the Executive Chairman explained how his company succeeded in transforming dump sites into world class homes.

"I had to find a way to save the location and not think about money because I was not going to get anything out of it. That's how the idea of regenerating the land into something more friendly came in, "Dr James said.

Dr. James, as a business mogul in the construction industry, saw potential slum evolution would have an impact on the values of the community's properties. The possibility of bad neighborhoods reducing the value of good buildings is very high in the business of real estate everywhere in the world.

"I know that vast areas of wastelands have been reclaimed in those places and transformed into sanctuaries for birds, deer, fish, and other marsh creatures. I am just using my expertise in construction management to also create something here that future generations will also cherish, "he said.

JL Properties Ltd, according to Dr. James, aspires to be the largest and most trusted real estate company on the African continent.
