Government has designed sustainable framework aimed at enhancing housing delivery- Prez. Akuffo Addo

In a bid to solving Ghana's housing problems, Pesident Nana Addo Dandkwa Akuffo Addo has announced that his  government has designed a sustainable framework  aimed at enhancing housing delivery  in Ghana. 
Delivering the keynote address at the launch of the nattional affordable housing program at Pokuase in the Ga west Municipality, the president highlighted the the difficulties faced by Ghana's in the area of housing relative to population nad rural urban migration.
Ghana's urban population currently stands at an estimated 58% of the population, with the urbanization rate of 3.3%. This figures highlight the pressing issue of housing which has become a critical developmental challenge for our nation. Statistics shows that only a mega 5% of our population can acquire homes without assistance, while 60% requires support facilitated by the state to access housing. The remaining 35% of our population will not be able to access homes even with government subsidies. 
The objective a ccording to the president is  to increase the production of affordable housing units and establish a reliable and sustainable demand side of the housing market that will be accessible to all Ghanaians.this he said will ensure that homes are readily available to all segments of society including our hardworking labour unions, both formal and informal and our fellow citizens residing in the diaspora.
The initial project of the  revised national housing programme entails the construction of 8,000 units on a 203 acre land in pokuase and  another 6,000 units on  a 200 acre land in  Dedesua in the Ashanti Region ,which is currently undergoing thorough feasibility studies.
