NPRA hands over an office canteen to Accra psychiatric hospital

The National Pensions Regulatory Authority (NPRA) has handed over an office canteen to the authorities of Accra Psychiatry Hospital as part of its corporate social responsibility to mark its 10th anniversary celebrations.

The canteen fully funded by the NPRA will serve as a long-lasting solution to the search for food challenge faced by both staff and inmates. Dr. Pinaman Appau medical director of the hospital at a ceremony to commission and keys to the canteen, said this will effectively halt the habit of staff going outside their premises for food.

Expressing her joy over the gesture done them by the NPRA in an interview with real estate times Africa,Dr. Pinaman Appau said, the over 200 people who patronize the services of the hospital daily will no longer have to go through stress for meals for themselves and relatives who may be on admission at the facility. According to her, NPRA’s help couldn’t have come at the right time. “We were therefore, very glad when the NPRA Administration approached the Hospital Administration to fund a project of our choice.”

Assuring to put the facility to good use, Dr. Appau appealed to other organizations to also emulate NPRA and come to the aid of the hospital in solving a myriad of challenges facing them. ‘’The hospital currently does not have a suitable urinal and toilet facility for the Outpatient Department, the laundry equipment is old and break down frequently’’ adding that their Waste Management Centre also needs to be reconstructed.

The Minister for Employment and Labour Relations, Mr. Ignatius Baffour Awah also commend the benevolent act done by NPRA, “it been 10 years since NPRA came into existence, they really think about the wellbeing of workers and it was a good decision to choose Accra Psychiatric Hospital to construct an ultramodern canteen for the hospital as part of celebrating their 10th anniversary.”
