Pan African Heritage World Museum (PAWH) is a Vision led by Honorable Kojo Yankah, founder of the African University College of Communications (AUCC).
It is one of the maximum critical initiatives of cultural and ancient importance of our time. The museum will be beautifully built in Ghana, West Africa.
The repository is devoted to sharing verity story of Africa and its people underneath the watchful eye of the world’s most noted scholars from the birth of civilization to present day.
The vision of the museum is to curate, preserve and communicate the history, ideals, philosophy, and cultural heritage of individuals of African descent among a current context of social, economic and political development.
A virtual meeting was organized last year due to COVID-19 and plans included how to raise $30 million to complete the project.
The sod cutting ceremony was held on May 5 at Pomadze Hills - Winneba in the Central region with dignitaries, including President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Founder and executive director of the (PAWH) Hon. Kojo Yankah,Central Regional Minister, Hon. Justina Assam, Omanhene of Assin Owirenkyi Traditional area, Ehunabobrim Nana Prah Agyensim VI, UNESCO rep Mr. Abdourahemane Diallo, Samia Nkrumah, Dr. Mohammed Ibrahim Awal-The Minister of Tourism Arts and culture, among others which marks the African World Heritage Day.
“The coming of the Pan African World Museum will help restore the truth of African. With an expected completion date of 2023, the museum will be backed by an international NGO governance model with board of directors and the most productive group of academics overseeing development. It has been endorsed by the Government of Ghana, UNESCO, the African Union, the Association of African Universities, and others”.Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Pan African Heritage World (PAHW), Professor Kofi Asare Opoku stated.
Museums are more than places where artifacts are exhibited and conserved along with a dramatic rise in culture, UNESCO is committed in helping African countries, he ended saying, UNESCO supports developing countries using museums potentially to foster social cohesion notable among local communities and disadvantaged groups. Mr. Abdourahamane Diallo, a representative from UNESCO added.
The President of Ghana, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo Addo was present to cut sod for the project to begin. In his speech, he stated, it is good to be back in Winneba to cut sod for (PAHWM). The government is grateful for this museum sited in Ghana.
It will not only benefit the people of the world but will also imbibe in us a deep consciousness and understanding of the goals and ideals of Pan- Africanism.
The president was very pleased the event is happening under the championship of a highly respected ruler- Nana Prah Agyensim VI, Omanhene of Assin Owirenkyi traditional area. He thanked the Omanhene for his engagement of this project.
The museum will provide a natural residence and resting place for all the looted artifacts from African continent which are housed in foreign museums.
