As Covid-19 has devastated the tourism and hospitality sector, Ghana is putting in vigorous efforts to regain her strength in the sector. On the wings of this, the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has launched its ‘Let's Tour Ghana Club’, an initiative spearheaded by the 2020/2021 batch of the National Service Personnel of the Authority.
Launched at the Ghana Tourism Authority head office in Accra last week, four NSS Personnel of the 2020/2021 Batch of the GTA namely Isaac Kofi Arthur, Rebecca Kumah and Lennox Leckson are the brains behind the ‘Let's Tour Ghana Club.
In brief statements, the Deputy CEO of the GTA in- charge-of Technical Services, Mr. Ekow Sampson expressed great appreciation for the initiative and formation of the club; while the Deputy CEO in- charge-of General Services, Mr. Isaac Adomako Mensah, noted that the formation of a Tourism Club by the Authority was a dream come true.
On his part, the Corporate Affairs Director of Authority, Mr. Jones Aruna Nelson opined that the formation of the Club would have a positive impact on domestic tourism in Ghana.
In an exclusive interview with Real Estate Times Africa, he noted that the nation needed to be informed about the various initiatives of the Authority to benefit Ghanaians more in the sector.
“We’ve also done this: stay safe, discover Ghana, and then, Let’s Tour Ghana - we’ve launched a tourist club initiated by the 2020/2021 National Service Personnel. And they had their first tour at the Chenku Falls and Shai Hills Resource Reserves. So, we are bringing all these things on board for Ghanaians to be well abreast with them,” Mr. Jones explained.
The main aim of the founding members of the club is to travel across Ghana to learn new things including the culture of the different groups of the Ghanaian people.
Their mission is to be a well-structured group to promote tourism related activities in Ghana by touring the 16 regions of Ghana and projecting the image of Ghana positively to the rest of the world; while their vision is to become a leading t ourism promotion entity under the wings of the Ghana Tourism Authority.
Currently, the club has over a hundred (100) members, with the leadership throwing invitation to prospective members.
“Our doors are opened 24/7 if you want to be part of this adventurous family”, it said.
