Ghana Stock Exchange and Young Investors Network Embark on An Investing Roadshow

The Ghana Stock Exchange in the quest to educate the general public about developing the culture of investing has partnered with the Ghana Young Investors Network to help promote investing habits among the youthful population in the country.

The investing Roadshow is expected to run throughout the country targeting tertiary institutions. This is to help educate students on how to start an investing lifestyle and also equip them with the necessary knowledge and skills about investing in the stock exchange.

The Ghana Stock Exchange and the Youth Investors Network nationwide roadshow hit the University of Ghana Business School and the numbers shown were more encouraging since most of the audience enjoyed the seminar.

More than 200 students from the University of Ghana Business School were engaged in the operations of the Ghana Stock Exchange and the practical skills that aspiring finance professionals need to start their investing career paths.

The seminar started with the Ghana Stock Exchange highlighting the mandate and overview of the stock exchange. The Stock Exchange explains that the idea of establishing a Stock Exchange in Ghana lay on the drawing board for almost two decades prior to its implementation.

Among other functions, the Ghana Stock Exchange is mandated to provide the facilities and framework to the public for the purchase and sale of bonds, shares and other securities traded in the market.

The Exchange also controls the granting of quotations on the securities market in respect of bonds, shares and other securities of any company, corporation, government, municipality, local authority or other body corporate.

It is within this mandate that the Ghana Stock Exchange and the Youth Investors Network is engaging students to enlighten the public about the benefits of investing in the Ghana Stock Exchange and other investment products.

This is the second roadshow organized, the first was at the University of Cape Coast and now the next roadshow will be at the University of Professional Studies Accra (UPSA), Accra Technical University, AUCC, University of Ghana City Campus, and the University of Education Winneba.
